This is a lap-sized quilt that I made for my friends
and Forthright. It was all pieced in time for Christmas, but I had to quilt it, and with a move, work, and various new home ownership minor disasters, I kept not finding the time to actually quilt it. Anyway, I finally finished it in March so I could send it to Ontario.
It's a scrap quilt from a pattern called "In the North Woods" by Joan Ford. The bear paw block is a very traditional block; the square part of the "paw" is usually a solid piece of fabric, but it's a four-patch block in this quilt. What I love about making scrap quilts is that I get to use bits and pieces of fabric leftover from other projects I've done. In this quilt, there are fabrics from the baby quilt I made for Curtana and Forthright's son, fabrics from baby quilts made for other mutual friends' children, fabrics from Longpig and Wererogue's wedding quilt, fabrics from
's PhD quilt, etc. etc. So, this quilt kind of weaves all my friends and I together. That's why I quilted it with hearts.
